Smart Snacks
If you can influence your kids decisions about what to eat in your kitchen and in the school's cafeteria, you'll go a long way toward helping them adopt healthier eating habits.

A Plan of Attack for Snacks
Celery with Peanut Butter and Raisins
  • At snack time, switch out the soda and potato chips for fat-free milk and a favorite fruit with low-fat yogurt or tortilla chips and salsa.

  • Present your kids' favorite veggies in creative ways, for example, celery with peanut butter and raisins (also known as 'Ants on a Log').

  • Make a game of seeing which healthier foods can be substituted for the unhealthy, everyday ones.
