Here are the eye-opening numbers:
- One out of every five children in the U.S. today is overweight.
- That includes more than 10% of children from ages 2-5 and
more than 15% of children from ages 6-9.
- In the past 30 years, the percentage of overweight kids in
the U.S. has more than doubled.
These statistics are even more startling when we look beyond childhood:
- Kids who are overweight have a 70% probability of being
overweight or even obese as adults.
- That likelihood increases to 80% if one or both parents are
overweight or obese.
